About Us
About the Founder:
Keyshawn McMiller is a 2x HBCU Alum of Bethune Cookman and Florida A&M Universities. Growing up he’d seen photos and memorabilia from family members who’d attended HBCUs but he himself didn’t realize the significance of their existence until he set foot onto one as a student. It was during that 4 year tenure was Keyshawn exposed to daily examples of Black excellence, resistance, and a deep appreciation for what our history meant to not just America, but the world. He found several mentors who pushed him out of his shell and into the advocate he was called to become. Using his social work and education background, Keyshawn started the I See You HBCU movement because he realized if this type of impact can be made on a young adult or even a high schooler, how much could that early exposure to Black history, especially in the wake of restrictive policies around Black History Education in public schools, be magnified for young black scholars and families in elementary school?
About I See You HBCU:
“I See You HBCU” is more than a collection of books and resources—it’s a movement to inspire and empower the next generation. Celebrating the rich history of HBCUs, it connects children and families to the achievements of Black leaders and innovators. Through vibrant stories and interactive resources, we instill cultural pride, confidence, and the belief in endless educational possibilities. Join us in building a future where young people, inspired by the legacy of HBCUs, dream bigger and see themselves in stories of excellence.”
